Making It Work

New Article Looks At How Retailers Create Amazing Stores in Less Than Ideal Locations

March 06, 2008 // Franchise Update // Greenville, Wis. – For his newest article, "Making It Work: Break through Location Restraints to Create Incredible Stores," Tim Matey looks at how retailers are achieving amazing store environments under less than ideal conditions. "Real estate isn't a one-size-fits-all thing," says Matey. "To land that perfect space, retailers need to be willing to think outside the box that is their current store model."

His article takes a closer look at three common location dilemmas and offers examples of what retailers are doing to overcome these building challenges. His discussion includes how Wal-Mart and Best Buy have handled design stipulations and guidelines, what retailers like Barnes & Noble and The Home Depot are doing to fit in urban environments, and takes a look at what awkward architecture can mean for business owners.

"All it really takes to deal with difficult spaces is a little flexibility and the willingness to think outside the box," says Matey. "If retailers can do that, location restraints no longer pose as large an obstacle."
